It is presumed that the validity of the patents is established.
• ATTEMPT TO DESTROY A BANK. Received, September 6, 9.30 p.m. Paris, September 5. An Anarchist carrying a bomb attempted to light tho fust} insido Rothschild's Bank, The dotective who observed him immediately seized the man, and in the struggle the fuse was fortunately extinguished. The scoundrel was arrested. September 6. Shortly boforo closing the bank tho police saw a man enter the building concealing something under his coat and followed him. On reaching tho stair loading to the first storey, the man was caught trying to fight the fuse at the end of a cigarette. Upon seeing the policeman lie throw tho bomb violently on to the ground, but a thick carpet prevented an explosion. The would-be assassin rushed into the street, but finding it impossible to escape drew a razor and tried to cut a policeman's throat, the latter drew his sword and held the anarchist at buy while a second gendarme seized him. Received September 7,10.10 a.m. Paris, September 6. The Anarchist arrested for the outrage at the Rothschilds' resembles the man Powers who committed a similar offence at the Church of La Madeleine. The man refuses to give his name. He admits that the present was a genuinoattempt to destroy the Bank, but the explosive letter a few days ago,which injured Baton Rothschild's Private Secretary, was only a hoax. He regretted that tho cigarette ash failed to quickly ignite tho fuse. Tho bomb contained chlorate of potassium.
