Senator Mngnier, editorof L'Eremvwil, who was summoned to appear before the Chamber on an indictment charging him with accepting a hundred thousand francs in connection with the South of France railway scandal, is said to havo escaped from his residence concealed in a basket containing dirty linen. Scores of detectives were watching the house at the time.
