B;/ Telegraph.—Omi Correspmleiit. Wellington, Thursday. Tho Masterton Town Lands Empowering Bill, passed its second reading by 42 to 13, and is likely to go through all its stages this afternoon. Later. The Masterton Trust Lands Empowering Bill was opposed on its second reading by Mr Allen, who said that a petition against it •• could not be fairly considered because the Bill had passed through the Local Bills Committee before tho petition was reached. He submitted tliat a Town Hall was not educational.
Mr Hogg replied that the Trust in former years had erected a Town Hall, but it was destroyed by lire and although the Trust received £7OO insurance, they had novor reph^jd The second reading was carried on division by 42 to 13 and the Bill subsequently passed through all its stages without alteration.
