THE EARTHQUAKE.
By Telegraph— Press Association. FkiUuxu, Wednesday. A sharp shejk of earthquake was felt here at 1.40 th's morning. W™,!xao.\\Wednesday. The postmaster at Taupo wires that the party could notfind the now fumarole reported to have broken out behind Tauhara. Two sharp shocks of earthquake wcro felt there last night, but no further damage is reported. At Tarawera there were also two sbaip shocks, ono at 9 p.m. and the other nt 1.25 this morning. All the hill around tho south of Tarawera were capped with snow this morning. A sharp shock of earthquake was ' felt at Napier at 1.40 this morning, Waipawa, Wednesday. Tho severest shocks of earthqnako here since 1803, wcro felt at r 1.40 this morning. Chimneys being cracked and glass and crockery broken. A roaring sound was heard after the quakes. IJapiek, Wednesday. The earthquako this morning roped people from their sleep. the earthquake, was also felt at Woodville, fly Telegraph—Own Comtpondent, It Ni'i, Wednesday. A smart shoo'c of earthquake was felt here tl ; s morning aboat 1.30 a,m, Direcl'oT: north to south.
