MEETING OF CREDITORS.
ESTATE OF ELVISS POINTQN. The first meeting in the estate of' E. Pointon, painter, of was held to-day, the D;O.A. (Mr Wjp B. Chennells) presiding. There were no creditors present or represented. The debtor, examined on oath, said lie had been in Eketahuna for about five months, previous to which he had been in > Featherston fpr (ivo yoars, where lie bad carried on the business of a painter,,hairdresser and tobacconist. He had no indebtedness prior to coming to Featherston. On 17th of April was burnt out in Featherston. The insuranco amounted to £l5O, with which he paid debts and replaced his home. Nearly nil tho I debts in tho statement had been incurred since the fire. In Eketahuna lie carried on the business of painter and hairdresser, but had no stock. Only about £5 of his indebtedness was incurred before the fire. Since then he had carried no stock of any kind. Business had been bad. He had not kept any account of what he had earned; did notthinkho had earned an average of one pound petfl> week, as since then others hdK opened hair-dressing saloons. had sold the furniture of his hairdressing saloon at Ekelaliuna for £7 10s. There was noarrangement that debt»r should get it back. With this money he had paid tho cost of liling his schedule. The reason he filod was that he was behind with his rent and several creditors wero pressing liiin. The furniture ho purchased aftor the fire was sold under a bailment, and he had how only his clothes and bedding, The bailment to Mr Acbeson was dated 12th March, the total amount received from him was £2319s 9d, and the bailment was over the whole of the furniture, except the bedding. Ho had received no account of tho sale of the goods, the goods wero actually sold to Mr Acheson at different times, and debtor rented them from him. He had no other properly and had no offor to make, The goods were purchased by Mr Acheson previous to the bailment, to - There was no understanding witmfc| him on account of the goods. Wiw* ' ■ ness attended tho salo and noticed lots of goods sold at ridiculous prices, The whole of tho debts wore incurred for living. He had kept no books since the fire; in fact ho had done 110 business to keep books for.
