COUNTY COUNCILS' CONFERENCE.
Bi/ TeUymph,— JP/w Animation, Weluxctok, Wednesday. The Conference resumed at 10 o'clock this morning'. The following motions were carried ;•
'•' That the Government bo recommended to mako provision for the drainage of small areas within the same county, as was provided for in section 2690f tho Counties Act,1886." " That where there is any special traffic on any road under tho jurisdiction of a County Council from a borough or other district over which the County Council has no jurisdiction, to acemotery, gravel pit, wharf, abattoir, slaughterhouse, or any other place used to a largo extent by said borough or other district, that they contribute equal shares for the maintenance of that road from their boundary to said cemetery, gravel pit, wharf, &c." "That tho Government be requested to vest all public roserves, domains, cemeteries, &e., within tho boundary of the local authority, in the name of such local authority; with provision for each account being kept separate, so as to provide against misappropriation of funds."
'"That this Conference' is of opinion that the local authority should be consulted in the laying out of roads which the, local authority will bu called upon lo mako and maintain." j " That all native lands—tho title of which has been ascertained and the relative owners defined- situated within five miles of a legally' defined road, ho liablo'to cbntrijjuto' full general, separate,"and spo'cial works rates." ' ' • "'""•'
" That a simplification of % Public Works Act is required, in order to allow land to be acquired for reading purposes by local bodies with less expense,"
