MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING,

The monthly meeting of the Masterton School Committee was held hist evening. Present—Messrs E. Feist (chairman), F, A. Hive, T, Wngg, R, E, Hornblow ami W! Morris. snxirrns. Jackson) reported that the average attendance for the month had been 501 with GOO scholars on the roll. School rc-opencd on July 15th with a very good attendance. During the month an average of 9!) children have been absent, and not half of them through sickness; the reasons given plainly showing that certain parents concern themselves very little about the education of their children. On the other hand, Mr Jackson states that quite a number of children who have been suffering from chilblains liaye bravely attended. jXFAXT SCHOOL. Miss Keeling reported f1.6, children on the Infant Scjiopl roll, with on average attendance of 76, The low average is due to poor attendance on one or two wet days. The Chairman stated thai, the sub-Commjtteo appointed, had authorised Mr Halo to plant about 100 trees in the Infant School, grquud. ACCOUNTS, Accounts, as submitted, were passed for payment, (iEXEISAI. Mr Morris drew attention to tho rough state of the paths at the Infant School. The matter was left in the hands of tho visiting member to attend to. The question of providing material for kindergarten teaching, was discussed, it being finally decided to leave the matter in the bands of Messra Hornblow, Rive and Feist, with power.to act. Mr Pragnoll was appointed visit-ing-member, and , tho meeting adjourned,
