TE NUI NOTES.
From Our Own Correspondent. Saturday. Tho Foresters' Ball took place last night, but owing to the rough weather, a great many of those who intended to attend, could not do so. I am pleased to say it was ono of the most successful Balls that has been held in To Nui, and too much praise cannot'be given to the worthy Secretary and the diligent Committee, for tho way in which thoy worked to make the affair a success. Mr Hancock officiated as M.C., in a very creditable manner, doing his best to please everyone, Last Friday night was one of the roughest nights we have had this t winter, and considering that, the Foresters aro to bo congratulated on tho very large attendance and tho enjoyable night spent. The music was supplied by Mrs Crawford, and too much praise cannot be given to her for her splendid time, The extras were kindly supplied by Misses Nicholls and O'Connor, and and Messrs Elliott and Southey.

Opinions are considerably at vananco on the subject, but tho verdict of most modern soientists would lead to tho oonoluaion that youth, while training, should abstain from smoking pipos, cigarettes, and strong tobacco. A mild cigar on the other hand may safely be indulged in, and the lastest novelty, Jfrossard's Cavours, can bo recommended to one and all. Thoy are mild, fragrant, and in every respect suitable for the sportsman, as well for the ono who is out of it: A packet of eight costs only ono shilling and threepence. Athletes go for them and be victorious,
