[TO TIIK EDITOR.] Sii: —l, a stranger, walked down Queen-street on Thursday night between seven and eight o'clock, and Id! it was dark lis Hrebus. laskod a nntivo why the shops were all closed, and he informed me that it was done by "Hadof Parliament." "Then why," continued I, "Are not the gas-lamps lit," and he told me that it was because " the moon was expected to rise before morning." " lint till the moon rises it is dark," saidl, "and with the shops shut it is doubly dark." " Ah," lie rejoined, " The members uf the JJorougli Council ain't found out Unit it's dark when there is no moon." I'lease, Jli Kdilor, will you toll the highly honorable and intelligent members of the liorougli Council that when (here is no moon il isilnrk in your town, so that when they have learnt this valuable piece of information they may cause the lamps to be lit, and the centre of the town need no longer be as black as pilch. 1 am, etc. AUIUTMA.
