ity Telegraph.—Own Corrisponient. I'ahiatiu, Tuesday.; Tlio meeting of tlio Borough Council last night was very lively. Tenders were sent in for the construction of tho oxtension of tho Maugatainoka Bridgo, and several councillors strongly objected to the tenders being opened until the plans had been seen and approved by the County Council, and tho Government, but they were in minority. The tenders were Eraser and Morley, Wellington, £16119s (id; .J. Dawson £1431 lis (id; Henry Carlsen, £1164 19s 7d. Mr Carlson's tender was accepted. At a meeting of tho Literary and Debating Society last night, Mr Macloskey delivered an address on the Independence of the Colonios, Next Monday evening there will bo a debate against the Eketahuna Society,on thoquestion of the Federation of the Australasian Col^jea,
