WIFE MURDER AND SUICIDE.
By Telegraph.—Press Assorintimi. Path, Saturday, A brutal nttompt nt murder took place to Hukatere this morning. A half-caste of Waitotara, named Wiri to Raaliu Koroai, attacked his wife, Parahi Ngakirikiri, with some sharp instrument, inflicting terrible on her head and face, and wn threw heron the lireand cleared Tut. She was found insensible this morning at 3 o'clock by Tntane, who rode in and reported the matter to Constable Carr, who, with Dr. Campbell, wont out to the pah. The doctor ordered the woman's immediate removal to the Hospital, where sho now lies in a very critical condition, There were no witnesses to tho assault, but the hut- presents an awful appearance, being bespattered with blood. Constable Hooper and tho natives have gone in search of Wiri, but lie is supposed to have committed suicide. Wiri was implicated in the murder of a woman at Wailotnra in 1890, He is a well-known footballer, abont 30 years of age.
