WELLINGTON EDUCATION BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING,

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held yesterday, the following business affecting this district being dealt with.

MissM, H. Toohill (Eketahuna) was granted a refund of the railway fare in connection with her visits to the Kindergarten schools at Wellington. The Board decided that in future no country teachers would be allowed to visit the Kindergarten schools without the express sanction of the Inspector, endorsed by the Chairman.

It was decided that tho Board could not recognise tho services of Miss Richards while acting as head teacher at Parkvale, but it was decided that her sister, who had been pupil teacher, should be paid according to scale. The Board decided that it had no power to prevent the teacher's wife at Whakataki, acting as telephonist, as the Board does not own the residence.

The Chairman was empowered to arrange for a temporary schoolroom at Manganiuhoe. Mr McCardle promised to report regarding the question of erecting a tesidence at Nikati. A grant of £SO was made to the cost of re-erecting the Mangapakeha School, provided that tho land is conveyed to the Board.

The Inspector was directed to report as to proposed repairs to the Ekelalmna fence. It was decided that a room for the Pahiatim infants should not be rented, but that the now infants' school should bo erected as soon as possible. Au application for new blinds for the Mangaone School was refused. The Chairman was empowered to deal with applications for grants for repairs to the Greytown School.

A grant of £4 for outhouses was made to the To Nui Committee. The Board's carpenter was insti noted to do repairs at Oliariu and Mangaone Schools. The architect was directed to prepare plans of a teacher's residence at Parkvale.

The Chairman reported that he and the residents had come to a decision regarding a site for the Newman School. His report was adopted. The committee set up at last meeting reported that there had been no legal ground for the expulsion of a girl from the Hastwell School by the local Committee. The report was adopted.

it was decided to advertise for an additional teacher at Dalclield. The following tenders were accepted: Erection of Infant School, Pa hiatua,Godfrey and Sons; erection of Infant School, Petono, Wakelin lit OS.
