From Oiti' Oiru Coms/mdciit. Wednesday. There was a slight fall of snow last night, but not enough to leave any signs of it this morning. To the cast and west the hills lire covered the lower hills being but slightly so. At the Council meeting on Monday 43 applications were made to be put on the Burgess Itoll. J t was openly stated iu the meeting some of the claims were bogus ones. Only 17 of the claims were acceded to, the remainder being held overforfurther enquiry. This sudden interest is in view of the approaching election of three Councillors. Jlany of the applicants, were on the roll last year, but the now valuations did not disclose their claim, and consequently tliey do not appear on the roll of ratepayers from which -the Burgess 801 l is compiled.
