MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING,

The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Saturday, the 27th inst. Present: Messrs C. Forsbcrg (chairman), J. l'\ Hecklor, C. 'lVit, and P. Glecson.

The minutes of tho previous meeting were read, and after some discussion as to whether the motion (ro basing special rateson new valuation) passedat the previous meeting should bo struck out, it was resolved to confirm the minutes as they stood. Correspondence inwards was read from tho Survey Department re final payment on grant lor Dagg's Road. From Secretary to the Treasury re linal payment (£700) on account of loan for Manganmhoe Road. From Messrs Jacobson and Broderson, requesting permission to leave the widening of one of the fillings on their contract until drier weather, when drays can he used, and also making a claim for extra work.—This was held over for consideration. A letter signed by several settlers was read, complaining of certain alleged defects in tho construction of the Mangamahoe Road.-It was decided to hand it to the Inspector to report on tho matter. ilr A. Falkner made an offer for the pnrchaso of the totara on the Kaiparoro Road.—After considering Mr Falkncr's offer, the Board was not inclined to accept it. A donation of £i) was received from Mr A, 11. Wrightson, to assit in restoring bridge on the Mangaoronga Road.

A petition was presented to tho Board requesting it to take steps to raise a loan of £6OO for the construction of Bower's road.—lt was resolved to give effect to it. It was decided to dispense with the services of the present rangers, giving them a month's notice, and invilo applications from , persois willing to undertake the duties. The roadman will also be authorised to impound stock stiaying on the roads. Accounts amounting to £O3l lSi Gd were prssed for payment.
