MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING, The ordinary monthly meeting of tho Masterton Road Board was held last Saturday, Present: Messrs Cameron (chairman;, Holinos, Harris, and MoKenzio. It was resolved, after hearing Mr Wilton re his claim for damages to his oxpress, through a defective culvert, to grant him tho sum of £l.

It was resolved that tho Chairman bo authorised to arrange for handrails on the bridgo on the OpakiRangitumau road, as requested by Mr Blatchford. It was decided to contribute £1 out of rates, conditionally that Mr August Johnston puts labour to the value of £1 into the work of clearing a track to section 42, Block XV., Mikiiniki,

Resolved that tho sum of £3 be expended in repairing culverts, and clearing slips on the Fernridge Road Extension.

Pet mission was granted to Mr Dakiti, to put up his boundary fenco partly on the Bond Reserve, conditionally that he removes somo small trees on the road lino, the Board not to be responsible for any injury to tho fence. . Bruce Road, it was decided to point out that owing to the exceptionally heavy work required to give at best a very steep grade, that they do not see their way to nccept the offer, but if the Mauriceville Board will undertako to do the work on its side of the river, the Masterton Boaid will make a cart road on its side.

The.Finance Committee's report, recommending accounts amounting to £i>36 8s 9d for payment, was adopted. The Engineer's report was read and adopted. The expenditure of £lO on tho tipper Plain Road, and £l2 on the Fernridge Road was approved, It was decided before carrying out the proposals re. deviation on Burnett's Road, (o obtain the consent of Mr Kcniiock, the owner of section 13. ' The sum of £4 was voted for willow planting for the protection of the Waingawa river bank, providing the labour is supplied by the settlers, the work to be done to the satisfaction of Mr Holmes.
