MASTERTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

An exceptionally good programme of" Scotch Music" was given in tho above Church last evening, to a fairly largo gathering, all being most appreciative of the items given. The Rev. Robert Wood occupied the obair, and the following programme was gone through Piano solo, by Miss D. Bunting,nicely given ; quartette by members of the Choir," Tho Forester," much appreciated; song by Miss Crann, 11 Jock o' Ha/.eldeen," sung exceptionally well; song, by Mr Simms," On the Banks of Allan Water," an excellent item sung to perfection ; quartette by the Choir, " Sweet and Low," much admired; song by Hiss Walker, 11 Robin Adair," nicely rendered, and in response to a hearty recall, Miss Walker gave " Coming through the l!ye " ; tbegom of the evening was the son" jflpiss Johnston, "Angus Macdonalo7' and in response to a vociferous encore, this lady gavo another Scotch item, also well rendered. The violin solo, " Alice, Where Art Thou," given by Mr Jlowlem, was a rare musical treat, and was very well received, the player responding to a recall, Another'item by Mr Simms," Annie Laurie," given in liis best style,elicited great applause, and the singer responded with MVlien Other Lips, A second quartette by the choir," Sleop, baby . Vloep," was contributed in capital style. In the absence of ono of the performers, Mr H. Lee sung "Faro Thee Well," and was followed by Miss Walker again treather hearers to" Yeßanksand Braes," both items being well received. Mr Meadows song, 11 Tho Skye BoatBong," was worth going far to hear, and was given in Mr Meadows' best and most pleasing .style, the audience demanding a recall, wl&li was given, Miss Johnston H®n favored her hearers with "The Miny Hills of Scotland," an item which was given to perfection, and warmly received. Amost enjoyable evening was'brought to ' a close by jhe choir singiug tho glee " Carnovalle," giving evidence of their careful training under Mr Simms, their choirmaster.
