The annual meeting oftheTara-tahi-Carterton Racing Club was held on Saturday about 40 members being present, Mr R. R. Armstrong was voted to the chair in the unavoidable absence of the President and Vicepresidents, The report as published in the Wairarapa Daily Times with the balance-sheet circulated amongst members was taken as read and adopted. The following officers were appointed, (the majority having held office last year), yiz : President Mi W.C. Buchanan, M.H.R.; Vicepresidents, Messrs ft W, Dorset and i\ Pearce ; Treasurer, Mr J. Strang j Judge, Mr C. Vallance; Timekeeper, Mr H. Morison j Starter, Mr J. G, Pilmer; Handicapper, Mr MacFarlan«; Clerk of Scales, Mr C. J. Kemble; Clerk of Course, Mr Herbert Welch; Stewards: Messrs J. Stevens, R, Bright, H, Morison, A. Walker, C. B.Pharazyn,G. Tully, W. Amp, W. McKenisie (Masterton) C. J. Kemble, H. S. Izard, fl. H. Wolters, Harold Welch, J. Hodder, and R. G, Kemble. The sum of £SO was voted to the Hon. Sec. (Mr W, McKenzie), for his past services, and it was resolved to appoint him as Secretary to the Club at a fixed salary of £SO a year. The Chairman and several members testified to the energy and time the Secretary had devoted to the affairs of the Club, to which Mr McKenzie (who was absent during this paitof the business and was called in again) suitably responded. It was moved that the Stewards be empowered to draw up a programme for the Annual Race Meeting, and that the stakes be limited to £4OO, including the guineas which amount to £55. The Stewards met afterwards and drew up the programme, the principal events being an open race value £75, and a hack race value £75.
