Asquith, late Home Sefore-' tary, has been re-elected for East Fife, by a majority of 716, The sitting members have been returned for Barnard Castle, Horsham, Mid-Glamorgan, South Monmoith, Wansbeok, Stafford, Bishop Auckland, Chippenham, Ross (Hereford) and Holm6rlh. The following have been elected: —Mr Burnes (Tory), Ferevsham; Mr Carinichael (Liberal), Midlothian, by a majority of 459 oyer Mr Dalrymple j Mr Strutfc (Tory), Maldon; Mr Cripps (Tory) Stroud; Mr Philpolt (Tory), Torquay. V The Liberal ga ; ns are Mr Hophill (North Tyrone); Mr Fu'ford (Liohlield) ; Mr SoutUr (Dumfriesshire). The Torys gain Mr Malcolm (Suffolk, Sir J. Pender (Tory) beat Mr Spencer (Liberal) atMid-Nortlump-ton.
It is alleged that three hundred Pmnellite votera at Newcastle, were induced bj treachery to pl|U[> against Mr Morley, thus Mr Craddas to get in. Wher^ro' Morley was leaving the station, the crowd sang, "Will ye no oorao back?" Mr Morley was deoply affected. <, ■ The Westminster Gazel/aconßiders tho loss of Mr Morley's seat, may bo attributed to tho candidature of Mr ' Hammil in the labour interest, which divided the Liberal rotes. Socialists are obtaining a few hundred votes, chiefly in factory and mining centres, but none of their candidates have been returned, Slight rioting took place at tht Nowcastle-on-Tyne election,and property belonging to Toriesand Unionists was wrecked. At the declaration of the result of the Mile End poll a rough felled , Lady Mouutinorrcsf or declaring that her canvassing had secured the" rotum of the sittirg Tory member. The lady was rendered insensible for a time. Where Literals have been reelected their majorities have been i m mensely reduced. [/A .. Heavy majorities hare jSm; against the Labour candidates, r* London, July 18, The polling at Newcastle-on-Tyna was as follows: <* C. F.Hamand .. .. 12,883 Cruddas 12,170 John Motley .. .. 11,862 J.Craig 11,164 Hammil ~ •;, ~ 2,302 Ncwcastle-on-Tyne returns two members, and Mr Hamond, Conservative (odo of the sitting members), and Mr Cruddas, Conservative, hare therefore been elected, tho other sitting member, Mr John Morley, Liberal, Chief Secretary for Ireland in the Gladstone-Rosebery Government, baring been defeated. Mr Craig was a Kadical and Mr Hammil a Labour candidate. The result of this election is the loss of a seat to tho Liberals.
