NORTH WAIRARAPA BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. The regular monthly meeting of the Trustees was held to-day. Present: Messrs ft. T. Holmes (Chairman), ft. D. Dagg and D. Guild. MISCTKS. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. THE UNEMPLOYED. Tho Chairman stated that n, number of unemployed in Mastcrton previous to the last meeting had been sent by the Government to the railway works between Eketahuna and Woodville. THE KEV. W, A. EVANS. I Tho Secretary to the U.D.C.A. Board wrote stating that the Rev. W, A. Evans had been appointed oflicei for the Board and the Trustees were invited to render him every assistance in preparing his report. The Chairman stated that shortly they might expect a visit from Mr Evans. Mr Dagg expressed the opinion that it was a sort of Paul Pry visit. TUB WILLIAMS FAMILY, A letter was read from the Secretary to the Wanganui Board covering cheque for amount dne on account of the Williams' family aucl asking for informations aa to the various members of the family. The Chairman stated that tho information would be supplied, and tho Board would also bo informed of the reduction made in tho allowance to the family. old men's bom e. The Secretary to the Old Men's Homo wrote, stating that a situation had been found, at Paikakariki, for one of the inmates from Masterton, and notifying the reduction in the charge made against the Trustees. Mr Moms, of Newman, wrote stating that he could find employment for an elderly man for light work if ho was respectable. . The Secretary stated that ho had offered the situation to O'Brien, but the man preferred to go on stonebreaking.

GENERAL. Tho Rev. A. C. Yorko wrote asking for clothing for the boy King. Tho Chairman and Secretary were empowered to deal with the application.

F. Goodin, of Carterton, who was injured at Eketahuna some months ago, wrote asking for assistance, lie having been refused by the Carterton Society, as he had beon resident in tho North County for a period of twelve months.

It was stated that Goodin had a number of relatives in Carterton, some of whom would be able to contribute to his support.

Resolved that Goodin bo reforred to his relatives, and inquiries be made as to the time of his residence in the North County, and also that the Constable at Carterton, be asked to supply tho names of his relatives who are able to contribute. The Rev. A. C. Yorko wrote asking that the Trustees pay the fare of the boy Liiroche to Wellington, toonahlc him to attend the Wellington Hospital where he could be treated by DrMcKenzie, the specialist for affections of the eye. The Trustees undertook to pay the fare, but would undeitako no further liability. A man named George Harding, 5!) years, waited on the Tinstccs and asked to be sent to the Old Men's Home, lie had been about the Wairarapa for some time, and had lately como out of the Hospital, where he had had an operation performed for cancer on the tongue. He was unable to work, He had worked last at Kketahuna. Resolved that the applicant be allowed 7s a week, till a vacancy occurs in the Home, and that he be placed under the attention of Dr. Hosking for medical treatment, asrn c.\si:s. The action of the Chairman and Secretary with regard to 39 casual cases was confirmed. ACCOUNTS. The accounts presented wei'o passed for payment and the ordinary relief ordered to lie continued. u;xi'im:s. The Secretary asked that the Trustees decide whether tobacco would he allowed in the accounts for rations. The Trustees decided that the storekeepers be informed that tobacco must not be included in ration accounts.
