MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The regular monthly meeting of the Masterton School Committee was held last evening. Present: Messrs E. Feist (chairman), Rive, W. G. Beard, W. Pragnell, R. E. Hornblow, Easthope, Darnell and Morris. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. THE TOWN HALL QUESTION. jM. The Chairman stated that in tw gaid to the deputation to the Town Lands Trust, Mr Beard had to bo absent 011 the date on which the meeting was held, and the deputation liiul not attended. Mr Beard said the evening the deputation was notprasent, the resolutions were before the Trustees, and they could have considered them when discussing the proposal to borrow the money. In answer to the Chairman, Mr Beard said he was still prepared to wait 011 the Trustees. treasurer's report. The Treasurer roported a credit balance of £27 lie—the capitation due was £2o—and after paying tlie liabilities there would bo a credit balance of £il. x CORRESPONDENCE. From the Secretary of the Masterton Town Lands Trust, ro the resolutions submitted, and stating that the matter would bo hold over till next meeting of the Trust wliijk the deputation would bo receiveil.'f Mr Beard saiil the protest had been lodged, and it seemed tlie Trustees appeared to liavo ignored it. He suggested that the deputation wait 011 the Trustees, aud formally submit the first three resolutions, and discuss only tlio fourth resolution which proposed that £2OO bo set aside for educational purposes. TECHNICAL SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The Secretary of tlie Trust Landt Trust stating that it was not apresent intended to set up a perma nent committee, and pointing out that it was desired to add the name of Mr Feist to Hie present commit, tee, as lie bad been unintentionally omitted.

Mr Daniell stated that perhaps lie misled tho School Committeo on the last occasion, when ho had suggested additional names to tko Committee set up.

It was resolved to roply thanking the Trustees for tho appointment of tho Chairman to the Committeo. TRUST I.AXDS GRANT.

The Secretary of tho Trust Lands, lrust wroto stating that a sum dB £63 had been voted to theMasterto™ School Committee.

The Secretary stated that the credit of £l7, with which the C6mmittee commenced tho year, was not shown in tho statement sent to the Trustees, which would bo the difference between the application and tho grant.

The Chairman proposed that a vote of thauks bo accorded the Trustees for their liberal grant to the School Committeo.

Mr W. &. Beard suggested thaa the word " liberal" be left out of tht resolution.

s Mr Easthopo said that the only question with regard to tho grants i applied for, was with reference to [ tho s , um applied for by the Master--1 ton School Committee.
