N.S. WALES POLITICS.
Sydney, June 19.
The Assembly has passed the Custom's Bill by 56 to 31, and the Land Tax Bill by 50 to 29. The object of tho Government in attempting the postponement of the Land and Income Tax Assessment Bill in the Council, was in order that the three fiscal measures might be submitted to the Council at the same time. Mr Want says the Government was prepared to accept the rejection or postponement provided the second reading was proceeded with immediately. He warned tho Council tooousiderVell before they rejected the Bill, which would be tantamount to claiming the right to initiate a taxation directly contrary to the will of the electors, and such action would be liable to the misconstruction, that it was impelled by solf-interest.
