WAIRARAPA RUGBY UNION.
A meeting of tho above Union was held on Tuesday evening, at the Marquis of Normanby Hotel, Carterton. Present-Messrs D'Arcy, McGovern, Perry (Masterton), Penny, Card (Foatherston), Morris, Jeffries, Cochrane (Stars), Tait, Beard, Hornblow (Groytown), Pratt,Faulkner (Papawai), Fairbrother, Telford and Moore (Carterton). Mr J. Card was elected Chairman, and the minutes of tho lastjfcioral meeting were read and confirmed.
CoiTOßpondenco was road from Secrotaiy, Nelson Rugby Union, asking what arrangements could be made for the return match, Nelson Juniors v. Wairavapa Juniors, and • what gate percentage and date would bo suitable, It wa6 agreed that the Secretary write to Nelson, asking thorn to Bend a team early in August (the second Saturday, if conveniont) that they be offered the nett proceeds of the gate money (not to exceed £ls), and that tho match bo played at Greytown, the Southern Delegates promising to assist tho Union in carrying out the arrangements in conneotion with the visit. It was decided to play tho Senior Rep. Match, Wairarapa v. Wellington, at Carterton, on tho Recreation Ground. Mr Fail-brother promised to try and securo the Show GWnrl for tho match, jßf The following notices of motion were considered:—Mr Morris moved, " That the Union procure a banner or similar trophy for competition among junior clubs, to bo won twice in succession of three times at'intervals." Seconded by Mr Pratt. It was agreed that tho Union guarantoe a sum of £7 7s for tho purchase of a banner, and in tho meantime a subscription list be commenced among the various clubs connected with the Union, in order to supplement the above amount,
Mr Jeffries motion that the residontal qualifications of players 'in this Union be extended to 42 days in lieu of 14 days, and seconded by Mr Fairbrother, was road and discussed at length. Messrs D'Arcy, Perry, McGovernand Penny opposed ' the motion. Messrs Pratt, Faulkner, Homblow, Tate, Beard, Jeffries, |Moore, Morris, Telford, Cochrane, and Fairbrother supported it, and the motion was carried.
On the above motion being carried Mr D'Arcy tendered his resfljwion as Secretary to the Union/finch , was accepted with regret, A hearty vote of thanks being accorded him for his past services.
Mr McGovem was unanimously appointed Secretary vice Mr D'Arcy., The following players were transferred from senior to junior ranks: -Waterson (Greytown), Stoddart and Doughty (Stars). '"<
It was decided that the second round of junior futures romam as at present drawn. '^ v Mr Hornblow asked that the match Greytown v. Papawai be played on the Greytown ground instead of Kotahitanga, commencing at L3O p.m. The meeting offered : no objection provided both teams' came to amicable arrangements in the.matter, , . .
The Secre ary was instructed to mute to Wellington and obtain information re the formation of a Referees Association in order to have the same ready at the com- * : mencement of next season This being all the business a vote of thanks concluded the meetkg.
