DAMAGES FOR LIBEL.
. Sydkev, Juhb 18. Charles Seymour Allan has recovered £IOOO damages against Daniel Lehane Willis, as proprietor and publisher of the paper Truth, for libel contained in an article published in that journal. It appears that Allen marriod a daughter of Mr Perkins, a member of the Legislative Council of Queensland, and shortly afterwards visited England, The article in Truth alleged that an English swell had married a Brisbane Society lady, bad stolen her jewels and deserted her, The article in question did not mention any names, but the romarks were generally recognised by Allen's friends as referring to him, though the charge was baseless.
