PERJURY.
S\j Telegraph-Press Association. -'\ Invercargill, Monday. William Lambert wasfound guilty of perjury in the ease in which J. J. Meikle was sentenced to seven years poual servitude by Judge Ward for Bheep stealing, Lambert was sentenced to-day to four years' hard 1 labor, Judge Williams pointing out that had theoffender been committed \, after tho Criminal Code came into operation, Lambert would have been liable to imprisonment for life. The offence, however, was commiiM before the Code came into force oSf the greatest punishment under the law was therefore four years.
