Tho depositors of the Standard Bank have resolved to accept 2j per cent interest now provided the balance is paid in 1904 and no dividend is paid to tho shareholders until the interest on deposits is paid in full, It is reported that Sir W. Eobinson is likely to succeed Sir M. Fraseras Agent-General for Western Australia, Mr Gladstone was received on bis arrival at Hamburg by large crowds, who assembled in the streets and cheered him heartily. The House of Commons has adopted Sir W. V, Harcourt's motion for giving precedence to Government business,
