SENTENCES AT WELLINGTON SUPREME COURT.

At the Supreme Court, John Pearson, 18 years of age, charged with theft at Palmerston North, was admitted to probation for six months. __The young man Koderiek McKonzio, received twelve months hard for stealing acoalat Jlasterton. McKenzio escaped from the prison gang at Port llalswcll, iu January last, and while at largo in tho Wairarapa District, committed the offence.
An elderly man named Patrick O'Dounell, with previous convictions agaiust him at Grcyinouth and Oliristchurch, was sentenced to six months hard, for false pretences. Frederick Jlaryott, on a charge of tho theft of jewellery from the Masonic Hotel, was remanded for sentence. The prisoner, who is respectably connected in Christeburch, applied to be placed under the Probation Act.
0, A. Sutherland, 2-1 years of aire, who lias been acting as a canvasser for a local firm of printers, received six months for false pretences. The Chief Justice held the prisoner was too old to obtain tho benefits of the Probation Act, and besides his late employers did not give him a good character.
