PLTITION TO TUB PIIEMIUR, Mr Kn'ght, for whom wo yesterday published the birlh notice of his twelfth child, writes (o us as follows, says the j\.#. Sir,,-May 1 make hold to say some of us fatherly men desire a little consideration at the hands of the nation. With that end in view I petition you, from your position in the House of Representatives during the coming session, to move that 11. G. Knight and any other father of 12 children receive a grant of 100 acres of land to use and hold till that child is 21 years of age, when it be transferred to the twelfth child for his use and benefit, and that of his heirs after him. And that every other child born aftor the twelfth receive a grant of 100 acres likewise. Such a law would bo an encouragement to some of the young iuen,who are running in single harness (in many cases;, hitchirg on to selfishness. To alter their mode of life, join a partner in double harness, with the matrimonial car behind, they would booh find two in harness is bettor than one to got over the sleep grades of life, with the 100 acres as a cheering star ahead. Sir, with myself marriage has been no failure. Now 1 find my children a great help to mo in my way through life. The elder ones have'helped mo meet the sweating of tho North and South and the financial pressure of the lentre of this Colony, and wonderfully assisted to maintain my independence as a Britisher I am, etc., It.
