I). Crowe, auctioneer of Pahiutua, reports:-], held my usual fortnightly stock sale nt Pahiutua on Tuesday Al ay 21st. The yards woio Milled to their carrying rapacity. There was a good attendance. The bidding for good classes of dairy cows was spirited. Young stock was not sought for. The following prices were realised—Dairy cows, good classes, £i> to£(i os, inferior io to it-1 2s Gel, store cows £i 12s 6d, dairy heifers, springing to calve, good class ,£olo.sto£4os, empty heifers £j to £o as, yearlings, 27s to 295, weaners lfo to 21s, calves lis 6d, young pigs 10s. No sheep wore yarded. On Wednesday, the 22nd May, 1 held a clearing sale on Mr W. Kiddy's furm, there being a moderate attendance of the public, but eventually those attending meant business. The stock consisted of dairy cows, heifers andyoungattle, pigs, etc. For thoeows, bidding was brisk from start to finish. The following pi ices were it-alised.—Dairy ;cows (which were certainly good) £l2s (id to £6 2s Gd, or an average of £o Os Cd per head; heifers, £1 7s (id; weaners were ucglceted and| prices ruled lower than last quotation. At my produce side hold at the mart on Saturday, tbo.-e was a good attendance of the public which consisted mostly of enquirers, bidding was slow for most lots. The following were obtained: Good sound potatoes, £3los; onions, l{dj small do, Id; fowls, 9d to Is;turkeys,ss per pair. In storopigs business during tho week lias shown an improved tendency, sovoral lines having been placed at an advance of last Saturday's prices. The potato market is over-stocked, many samples arc of inferior quality. 1 quote good sound potatoes £3 10s; onions, ]}d with good demand; oaten chaff, best samples, £3los. Ihavo still enquirers for daily cows of good sorts, !
Mr P. H. Wood held his usual I fortnightly stock sale atthoTaratain yards yesterday. Entiies w«e smaller than usual, hut tho attendance of buyers was good. Tho following is a quotatiou of prices realized;—
.Sheep.-Fat owes, 6s 3d; Smooth wethers (small), 3s Id ; do do ewes, f bd; owes in lamb (aged), 2s Gd to as.
