MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of .tho Masterton Road Board was hold ■jm Saturday last. Present, Messrs (chairman), Holmes, and McKenzio. The; minutes of the last mooting were read and confirmed. Permission was given to Mr Burnett to maintain ut gate on Burnett's Road, on the usual conditions. In connection with Mr Wadham's request that repairs bo effected on the Fornridge Road extension (slip on Briedit's section and repairs to road through swamp), action was deferred until after consideration of tho estimates on June Ist. Resolved that tho opinion of the Board's solicitor be obtained, as to whether tho sale of the Te Oro Ore cstatc,with roads shown on tho plan, I is a sufficient dedication of the roads ;, to tlio public, and whether it is necessary to accept a formal charge of the roads; also that replies be sent to Messrs Morris and loins, nd to Messrs Murray, Roberts & on receipt of the opinion. After consideration the proposal of the Mauricevillo Road Board to graut £25 for tho Mt, Baker Road, was adjourned for further consideration, the Clerk in the meantime to adviso the Mauriceville Road Board of the position, and ask whether any further amount can be made available for the work, the total cost, eiclusive of the cutting at Elkins', being £69145, leaving £44 14s to be raised by the Board. It was resolved that the Board protest against the thirds from Section 9, JJlocklV,Mikimiki, being ] paid to the Mauriceville Board, as ■ tho traffic from this particular saction, all comes to Masterton, and much stock, and further, that in a j short time much more will come, as tiiis route is a saving of ten miles fttweru Eketahuiia and Masterton. : The Eng : neer was authorised to , spend £8 out of the current year's |, •rates, in metalling repairs on the Upper Manaia Road. j Resolved to ask the Wairarapa j North County Council to reduce the charge for clerical services, by 10 per cent., from June Ist. The Finance Committee's report ivas read and adopted, recommend-' • ing accounts amounting to £BB 13s f lid, for payment. j The Engineer was authorised to , employ a man to fill in the ruts on ] the Opaki District Road from tho , School bouse upward.
