CORRESPONDENCE.

THE COUNCIL ELECTION. [TO TIIE EDITOB.I Sir, —The election of a Counoiilor for the East Ward of the Borough of Masterton takes place on Monday next. There are two candidates —Messrs Perry and Murray. I do not think that the ratepayers should have much trouble in determining who they will support. One is a man who bn6 been in the Council for years and whoso sole claim to tlio support of the burgesses is that lie has done nothing, absolutely nothing, to promote the interests of tho town. The other is a man who is untried, it is true. But ho is a mau of common sense, a man of shrewdness, and a man withal, who is not likely to enter rashly (into any speculations or matter which would prejudice the interests of the town. The effects of new blood are already being fell in our local bodies. The wants and dosiios of the pcoplo aio being recognised, and wo are getting out of that humdrum old fogeyism which wo havo iso long endured. Let us, therefore, as ratepayers, encourage new and energetic men. Lot us show our appreciation of the willingness of energetic business men to come forward andoffortheir services and their business acumen for the bonefit of the ratepayers. And if we do this, wo will unhesitatingly support tho candidature of Mr J. L, Murray, I am, otc, RAUriTER.
