FOOTBALL NOTES.
The Secretary of the Red Star Club received a telegram from the Mchose Club yesterday afternoon, stating that the engagement fixed for to-morrow between the senior teams would have to he postponed, owing to several members of the City team being down with influenza. The announcement will cause a severe disappointment to the local team, as full arrangements had been made for the reception and entertainment of the visitors, and there was every hope that the strong team the Stars would be enabled to place in tho field would secure them a victory. It is not yet known what arrangements will be made, but it is probable that the Masterton-Star teams will compete, or if not the match between tho local Orientals and City Orientals will bo played on the Oval.
