MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
OUDLNAUY MEETING. The regular fortnightly meeting of the Masterton Borough Council was - held last evening. Present: His Worship the Mayor and Crs Hessey, t Chamberlain, JCnlleii, Yates, Wagg, c Hornblow, and Feist. } jiixutes. j The minutes of last meeting were ] read and confirmed. ' GAS METERS. [ The Wellington Gas Company wiote, offering to supply the Council with street-lamp meters at £4 each. The Clerk stated two had been ordered, CHAPEL-STREET. P. H. Britlain wrote, drawing the Council's attention to the state of about a chain and a-lialf at the end of : Chapel-street. The matter was referred to the Works Committee, with power to act. THE (lAS TANK, Messrs Norbury and Trevor wrote, asking payment of the balanco due on their contract, the Engineer having passed the work. The Clerk said no certificate bad yet been sent in. Hesolvcd that Messrs Norburyaud Trevor be written to, to this effect. RIVER RESERVE. H, Westbrooke wrote, offering to pay rates and erect a substantial fence if granted a lease of the section in lliyer-road. Tho matter was left in the hands of the Works Commiitce, RIGHT-OF-WAY. W. G. Beard wrote, notifying that Mr T. C. Williams having granted a right-of-way next to Mr Hornblow's auction rooms, the Council bo asked to formally grant permission for the same.—Granted. LICENSING ELECTION. Tho Clerk to the Wairarapa North County Council wrote, making a final demand for the Council's share of the expenses of the late licensing election, amounting to £7G ss. Tho account was passed for payment. QUEEN-STREET GETTERS, John Tucker wrote, asking that the gutters be put iu order from Messrs Graham's corner past bis hotel, On the motion of the Mayor, it was resolved that the work be done, BY-LAWS. G. W. Woodroffe wrote, with reference to the chimney complained of at last meeting, ploading ignorance of the By-laws. The Borough Surveyor said there was a clear breach of the By-laws. After, discussion it was resolved to : insist on the By-law being carried ' out, GAS UEI'ORT, The Gas Committee's report was read, showing that 374,100 cubic feet of gas had been mado during tho month, against 292,700 cubic feet for the corresponding period of last year, On the motion of Or Feist, the report was adopted. GENERAL. Cr Cullen said with referonco to ' Mr Daniell's stable additions, he had visited the place and found 1 the 5 additions peifectly iii order. ' Cr Cullon and the Mayor were g appointed to sign tho Burgess 8011. This being all the business, on the s motion of Cr Cullon the Council j adjourned,
