It is said that the question Tows of providing a town hall is Ijaxus to he raised at the coming Tiiust annual meeting of the Town

Lands Trust. The Trust is aheady pledged to give the town a hall, and the point at issue is wliiillior (lie building should be erected at once, or in, say five years' time. If it is to he speedily built it is desirable that the Trustees should be empowered by Parliament to issue debentures. There is opposition to this course, but is yet no valid objection to it bus been brought forward. It would involve an amendment of the Act under which the Trust is administered, bat in this there is nothing novel. The original Act has already been so altered and patched that it would he scarcely recognised by the original promoters of the Trust. The town wants a new hall badly, and we are cerlainly in favour of obtaining it at once.
