ANNUAL SOCIAL.

The MuDicip.il Firo Brigade are again to be congratulated this year upon the result of their annual social and dance, tlio affair of last evening proving a distinct success in every way. Tlio Drill Hall was filled to its ntmost capacity, nearly three hundred people being present. That the expectations of the Committee were more than realised, was plainly shown by the fact that programmes were at a premium early in the evening. The Hall was nicely | decorated, the floor in splendid dancing condition, and the refreshments tasty and plentiful. Add to this the excellent music of Mr A. Keisenberg's orchestra, and it is little wonderthosepresentthoroughly enjoyed themselves, A number of visiting firemen from other Brigades were present, and their bright uniforms made tlio scene a very gay one. Dancing it as continued with considerable vigor till about 2.30 this morning. Special credit is due to the jointseeretaries—Firemen G. Braggins and E Pragnell-for their efforts in promoting the success of the gathering; to Messrs A, Feat, T. Hudson, F. Shearsby, and P. Murray, for the artistic manner in which the decorating was managed; and to Secretary H. Marsh and Fireman T. Fitzsimmons, junr., for their sharo of tlio work. The supper table was ably presided over by Fireman D, Jackson, while Firemen C, Effington, P. Reynolds, and YY, Morris acted as M.C.'s, The appearance of the Hall was greatly added to by the chandeliers kindly lent by Captain Pickering,
