The Temperance Hall will, _we anticipate, be none 100 large for his audience on Friday evening next, for Lio Medo is most decidedly an interesting personage, The sale of the Baniiockburn Eslate by Mr F. H. Wood at his Carterton rooms yesterday, was somewhat disappointing. From the attendance, which was very large and representative, it was anticipated that the whole property would have sold readily, but the reserves placed upon it were not realised and the property was withdrawn. It is now open for private sale, cither as a whole, or separately as subdivided, and as there are several enquiries from would-be buyers, it is not likely to remain long on hand.
Some of the Australian cattle on board the Perthshire, now in Lytlclton, have developed sickness, which is rumoured to be pleuro-pneumonia.
