CAPTAIN BARRY'S LECTURE

At the Temperance Hall on Tuesday eveniug,Captain Jackson Barry, the Pioneer Colonist, will deliver his famous lecture on his experiences past and present, Probably no old Colonist living has seen greater changes, encountered more " men of mark," or passed through more thrilling events than the Captain. He has mingled with aborigines, heroes on Hood and field, and statesmen who have shed an imperishable lustre on their country. Ho has passed through many perils, and added to the adventurous life of a Pioneer Colonist, the wonderful discoveries of an explorer. To many Masterton residents his account of the King Country, through which he has travelled, will be of extreme interesl, seeing thatliehas discovered and thoroughly tested its mineral treasures. The latter include silver, antimony, copper, tin, etc., and the best proof of their existence is that Captain Barry has already taken specimens from tho outcrops, and he is now en route for the scene of discoveries with the view of getting this mineral wealth properly developed with the aid of capital. Mr Hogg, M.H.R., is to take the chair, and we venture to predict tliatthose who favor the lecture with their presence will receive something as instructive as it will he entertaining.
