By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Saturday. The Government have received a messago stating that the loan is considered a splendid success in London, and lias raised the credit of all tho Colonies by tho result achieved in the face of persistent decrying by tho opponents of tho Colony. None of the N.Z. banks, got any of the loan. When the land reclaimed for the To Aro Railway section, in front of the Post Office was handod over to the City Council, who have erected a shelter shed on itataeostof £2OOO one effect was to oblige the Railway Department to station a signalman there, as the sheds hid the trains from view at the approach to the wharf. The Premier has informed the Council they have no right, under the Act to build sheds, as it was understood the land was to be merely fenced and planted. As a compromise, he suggested removal of one shed, and the insertion of glass in the back wall of the other. The Scenic Preservation Society intend ,to wait on Mr Seddon, and urge him to insist on the complete removal.
