> Front Our Oan Correspondent, Thursday, Tho late Mr John Hawke's funeral will take place to-morrow aftornoon. The fortnightly meeting of tho Band of Hope will bo held next Tuesday evening, when a large attendance of juveniles and friends is expected, A social was held in the Presbyterian Cbnrch last night, whon a very pleasant evoning was Bpent by those present, A man possessed of the demon drink created a disturbance in Mainstreet yesterday afternoon, and after a violont struggle with the constable he was handcuffed and marched to the lock-up by the constable assisted by two other men. Thore are two Native ladies voted as office-bearers on the Kotahitanga Football Club (Papawai). I don't know whethor this means that tho two ladies in question are to "don the colors" for the forthcoming season. Is so, I have no hesitation in predicting that Kotahitanga wins the Cup. An alteration has been made in the delivery of letters in the town by the postal authorities. Tho letter carrier now delivers letters to tho residents in the north end of the town first, whicll is much inoro convenient than before.
It would bo a stop in the right direction if the Borough Council could take a road through those properties opposite tho Palace Hall so as to join with Vegel Streetwbich is fast coming into prominence. At present tho road is a very roundabout one.
