Mr P. 11. Wood reports as follows of the stock sale held by him at the Taratahi yards yesterday ; ■Sheep came forward in good numbers and were mostly ofgoodquality. Only about 100 head of cattle were yarded chielly calves. There was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was far more spirited than has been the case of late, prices showing a decided upward tendency. There was not much enquiry for cattle, prices being slightly lower than last sale rates. Nearly all the stock, however, was sold under the hammer, prices ruling as under : Sheep.—Fat wethers 7s Id to 8s 7d; fat ewes 5s 3d to 6s Dd ; 2-tooth ewes 4s to 4s 3d ; forward wethers 5s 6d to 7s ; store ewes 2s to 4s; ewos in lamb 3s 6d to 5s Od ; lambs 2s to 4s; culls fid to Is 6d. Cattle—Calves lUs to 20s; yearlings 28s to 32s 6d; year-old steers 50s to 755; cows 40s to 80s, Horses and pigs, no demand.
