Sydney, April 30. In committee intheLegislativeA߻smbly on the Local Government Bill, Mr Watson, a Labour member, moved an amendment, consequential on ono which was carried against the Government last week, asserting the principle of ono man one vote in municipal olections. The Premier who was not satisfied with last week's defeat, said the Government had decided to make the question a party one and would abide by the decision if the House accepted Mr Watson's present amendment..

On the division being taken the Opposition joined issue with the labour party, the result being the defeat of tho Governmontby47 votes to 42.

Tho Opposition members explained that their action was taken with a view to kill tho Bill.

The Premier, Mr Reid, in order that the Bill might be dre&d, then moved that the Chaw\ leave the ohair. Mr O'Suilivan moved, as an amendment, that leave be given to sit again. The debate is proceeding,
