Messrs R, E, Hornblow and Co,, auctioneers and produce merchants, report as follows for tho week ending Saturday, April 20th The produce market has been steady during the week, and several satisfactory sales havo been effected at our prices. In oats, the market still continues weak, and prices remain unaltered, Bright heavy lines iin chaff show an improvement. The sale of grass seeds is practically I closed, and values show a downward movement, Potatoes show no improvement, and as there are large consignments of Southern potatoes in the Wellington market, an advance in price is unlikely to take place for some time. The onion market is firm, The butter trade is still weak,
In poultry, there has been a lari?e falling off in yalue; the same may be said of pigs. Our sale of horses on Saturday, was scarcely up to the average, both as regards prices andontries; only three horses being sold, In properties, we only disposed of one line, a farm comprising about 150 acres, near Masterton, The following are our wholesale quotations
Butter 5d per lb,, eggs Is Id per dozen,
Poultry—Fowls Is 9d to 2s 3d ; ducks 3s to 3s 7d; geese is; turkeys 4s 9d per pair, Pigs—Weaners 3s; five-month-old 14s to 16b, . Horses—Hacks 30s to £7 10s; light draughts £9 to £l4 10b;, harness do. £loto £l2.
Produce—Oats Is 7d to 2s, according to quality; oaten sheaf 50s to 55s per ton; potatoes 52s 6d to 60s per ton.
Second-hand traps £7 to £10; do. drays £6 to £7; harness from 30s to £2los j second-hand saddles 30s to 40s.
