The Masterton Sawmill Company's tram bridge over the Taueru river has been carried away, and as the Ccinpauy find it will be impossible to construct a new one for some time, the hands have been paid oil' and the mill stopped. This means a loss to Masterton in wages of £4OO a month, besides which there is a loss of trade to the Company.

Special anniversary services in connection with the Masterton Wcsleyan Church, will he held on Sunday next. The liev J. Ward of Wellington, will conduct the services. On Thursday the 25th instant, the annual soiree will be held in the schoolroom.

A Wellington resident who has just ' returned from the Wairsrapa inlorms the N.Z. Times that on the railway line between Ekctahuna and Mauriceville there are no less than 15 slips, some of them covering at least a chain. Tliey were informed that the main road between Ekctahuna and Mauriceville was utterly impassable, on account of the numerous slips, and that in one place the road was completely washed away. Great loss of stock by drowning is reported. The bridge over the l'ori Stream near Alfredion has been washed completely away.
