THE MELBOURNE SEWER DISASTER.
♦ < (Received April 17,12.40 a.m.) Mbmoursb, April 16, Some painful scenes occurred at the recovery of the bodies of those drowned in tho sewer, especially in the case of Foster. Foster had for a long period been out of work, and beggedfor employment, as he had a family and six children dependent on him, and they were almost starving. He obtained his position in the shift through another employe being unable to work, y When his body was brought the surface two of his youngest < children threw their arms round it and criedi "Father, ain't you coming liotna » to dinner to-day ?" Relief subscriptions have been started.
