The weather pat a complete stoppage to all outdoor sports. The sea was unusually rough and forbade any movements of small vessels. Wellington, Tuesday. The gale abated to some extent after midnight, but it is still squally and showery. Nearly ten inches of rain have fallen. There were no Hoods in town, and very little visible damage, but houses have suffered inside to an extent unknown bofore, the fury of the wind having forced tho water through tho walls, no matter how stoutly built. There have been heavier rains and fiercer gales, but none can remember a storm so continuously sovoro for three days and nights, for many yoars at least.
