Concert at Te Rangitumau.
t _» The concert held in the Rangitumau schoolroom on Thursday evening, in aid of tho organ fund, and to celebrate the arrival of the new instrument, was a very pleasing success. Contrary to all expectation, the night turned out to be a beautiful one, and, with a good moon and clear sky, the drive, which nearly everyono had to take, proved enjoyable. The concert was one of more than ordinary merit, and its appreciation was plainly evident from the geuerousapplausebestowed.Spleudid arrangements bud been made by Mr and Mrs Stuckey and family, who deserve every credit for the success of the affair. Tho performers consisted of parties arranged by the Rev, J. Dukes, Mr W. H, Jackson, and Mr Jas, Stuckey, and included Misses Perry, Prentice, and Williams, Messrs Hollings and Boagey; Mrs Butement, Mrs Cockburn-Hood, Mr L. J. Forde, and Mr U. R. Robinson; Mrs Stuckey, Miss Stuckey, and Messrs Harry and James Stuckey jr. The vocalists all acquitted themselves very creditably. Mrs Butement sang in magniliceut style, and had to respond to vociferous encores. Both Mr Forde and Mr Robinson were in excellent voice, and received well deserved encores. The trio "Ye Shepherds Tell Me," was very pleasingly rendered by Misses Perry, Preutico and Mr Boagey, and Mr Harry Stuckey brought down the house with his encore comic ditty. Mr Hollings'mandoline solos were much appreciated, and proved a very pleasing feature of the entertainment, an encore being demanded. The accompaniments were played in excellent manner by Mrs CockburnHood, Mrs Stuckey, and Miss Williams, At the conclusiou of tho entertainment a vote of thanks to tho performers was proposed by Mr Stuckey, to tho Chairman (Mr Stuckey) by the Rov. J. Dukes, and to the Secretary (Miss Stuckey), and Treasurer (Mr Harry Stuckey) by Mr W, H, Jackson, Refreshments were kindly and thoughtfully provided by Mrs Stuckey for those performers returning home at once, white other members of the concert
party returned to the homestead to enjoy tho further hospitality of Mr and Mrs Stuckey.
