SHOOTING AFFRAY.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association) Wellington, Tuesday. A shooting affray occurred at Paikakariki last night, as a result of which Thoi. C. Mcintosh, sjuard employed by the Wellington-Mana-watu Railway Company, has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder. It appears that Mcintosh had been drinking in a hotel early in the evening with a number of Maoris, among whom was one Maori named Mutu Abraham. » Mcintosh and Abraham had words, and tho former then went Tu/raham's story is that he went along to Mcintosh's house two hours later to apologize, when the latter fired three shots at him from a revolver. One struck his toe, and another entered his left shoulder and passed out through his arm. None of the wounds are very serious.
