THE MINISTER OF LANDS.
Pauiatua, Wednesday. The Minister of Lands and Mr Hogg were driven yesterday by Mr Heckler from Mangainahoe to Eketahuna. The weather was showery but they hud a good view of the Hastwell Village, which appears to be making good progress. Tho trip was continued to Patiatun, and the Hou. Minister expressed himself as surprised as pleased at the neat residences, extensive clearings, and other improvements that he passed on tho road. In the evening a visit was paid to Ballance where thenew butter factory was inspected. At a lata hour the visitors took part in a tea and coffee supper, given in the schoolroom to Mr Foster, lately manager of the Loan and Mercantile Co., who Midered assistance in getting their new factory erected,
Between 70 and 80 settlers, including ii number of ladies, did honor to the occasion, Mr McCardle presided, and the toasts, which were dry but very numerous, included " The Pnrliament," and the Minister of Lands, Messrs Hogg and Hall responded, To-day the Minister and Mr Hogg tab a drive round the McKenrie Special Settlement Block and Tutaekara, visiting Onslow Park.
