MASTERTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
MONTHLY MEETING, {H The regular monthly meeting of the * Maslerton School Committee was held last evening. Present—Messrs E. Feist, (Chairman), T. Dixon, T. Wagg, W. G. Beard, C. E. Daniell, W. Morris, Z. 11. Hoar, W. I'ragncll, and W. M. Easthope. jiinutes. The minutes of the previous meeting wore read and confirmed. TBEASUBER's KErOBT. The Treasurer reported a credit balance at date of £4 IDs 2d. ANNI'AI MEETING. The Secretary of the Education Board wrote, stating that in accordance with the Committee's recommendation, it had been decided to hold the annual meeting in the Main School. MAIN SCHOOL. The Head Teaohcr reported an average attendance of 502 scholars for the month, with 601 on the roll. The average for tlio past three months was 500, the highest made in any quarter in the history of the school, and if maint fained, the Education Hoard will appoint iff au additional teacher to the staff. V ixfaxt's SCBOOL. Miss Keeling reported an average A attendance for tlie mouth of Bli, with 98 children on the roll. Mr Ensthojie said he had a little matter to bring up. A child of Mr Jacques, of Tc Ore Ore, had been transferred to the Main School, having turned eight years. It was desirable for tho heaitji of the child, to permit him to remain at the Infant's School during the winter months, He would move that the Committee sanction the request. Mr Morris seconded the motion. Mr Jackson said such a proceeding would be contrary to the Education Board regulations. After discussion, on the motion of Mr Beard, it was decided that Miss Keeling be requested to allow the child to remain at thclufants' School and should any difficulty arise, the matter be left in the hands of the Chairman. BErAins. Messrs AYagg and Dixon repotted on certain repairs to the sheds, swings, etc., at the Main School, and also a gate leading from the playground to Chapelstreet. Mr Dixon said the repairs rrerc very necessary. He woulJ move the adoption of the report. Mr Wagg seconded the motion. Mr Heard moved as an amendment that the item of repairs he referred to the Education lioard, and the other matters to the new committee. The report was received, and Mr Beard's motion, seconded by Mr Morris, was carried. TYPEWRITING. Mr Beard's motion, of which notice had been given, re asking the Town Lands Trustees to assist in the tuition of shorthand and typewriting was read by the Secretary. ih Beard said he had expressed his yiews at a previous meeting. Since then he noticed that a member of the Town Lands Trust had given notice to move that night schools be established, jtand as this was so ; he was quite willing n drop his resolution for the present. Permission was granted, AKKVAL BXrOBT. The Chauman and Secretary were apooiutcd to draw up the annual report. The Secretary read the annual balance sheet. Mr Easthope was appointed visiting member and the meeting adjourned.
