THE MINISTER OF LANDS.

Tho Minister of Lands accompanied by his Private Secretary (Mr McKenzie), and Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H R., who met him at_ the Summit, visited Greytown this morning. They were met at the Greytown Station by tho Mayor (Mr Heagcrty), the Town Clerk, Crs Wood, Udy, and Loasby, and Mr W.C. Buchanan, M.H.R,
Tho Mayor in eloquent terms welcomed the Minister to the district, and presented him with an address from the Borough Council. Cheers followed the Minister's reply and amidst the enlivening strains of the Greytown Band, tho party drovo off. Af tor viewing the town a visit was made to the site of the proposed bridge over the Matarawa River, after which the Dalefield Cheese Factory was inspected, The party luuched at Greytown and the afternoon will be devoted to deputations and visiting the country. In the evening the Minister will be banquetted at Rogers' Hotel. It is expected that the Minister and his party will reach Masterton tomorrow about r.oon,

The Minister and party, accompanied by Messrs Hogg and Buchanan, wore driven yesterday af'crnoon outto Morrison's Bush and had a fine view of the country, including Mr McKerrow's property, and Messrs Bidwills' flats, and the land round Martinborough. In the evening deputations were heard on the subject of the Matarawa Bridge; the reservation of a five thousand acre water-shed at the head of the Ruahine; and a crosscountry track to Otaki. The dinner in the evening was i well attended, tho banqueters including a contingent from Carterton.
