CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent,) Wednesday, The annual general meeting of subscribers to the Carterton Library held last night was not well attended, less than a dozen members being present. The balance sheet showed receipts from subscriptions and donations £52105, balance brought forward £35 lis lOd, making a total of £BB h lOd. Out of this sum £55 19s 5d went in newbooks, £9l6s 3d in rates and injur, ance; Librarian's salary and sundries £9 13s, leaving £1213s 2JA carry forward. A vote of thanlcßd Mr C. R, Carter for the patience and time he had extended in purchasing books for the Committee, and to Mrs Carter for a handsome lot of books she sent out, was" passed. The. officers and Committee were, all re-elected. It was proposed to h&ye the rulefe revised. The Rev. S. J, Gibson gave a very interesting and instructive .lecture in the Wesleyan Church on his trip to Sydney, with lantern illustrations. There was a large and entbusiastio audience present.. . The Pollard's Company are billed for Carterton next week.
